Food Delivery

There are many reasons for having your groceries delivered to you during the COVID-19 crisis, instead of going out to shop yourself:

  • You may be self-isolating because you are ill with COVID-19, or suspect you may be ill.
  • You may be self-isolating because you have recently returned home from travel.
  • You may be concerned about going out in public and catching the virus.
  • You may be committed to minimizing your time in public to reduce the spread of the disease.

There are a number of food delivery initiatives in place right now. We are working to pull together all the information for you. Here’s what we’ve got so far. However, this page is likely not comprehensive.

(If you are a major grocery store, or your organization delivers food for other businesses than your own, please email information to us so we can add it to this page. If your businesses delivers only your own products, please fill in this form to be listed in our Open for Business section.)

SuperValu (Gibsons)

We don’t have information yet for this store.

IGA (Wilson Creek)

The Wilson Creek location of IGA offers online shopping, where they will prepare your order for you to pick up. They have partnered with Haley GM and other volunteers to shop and deliver groceries. Orders must be paid for by credit card.  Delivery is free.

While orders can be placed through the website, that is booked a week out.  Alternatives are to email to IGA053@igabc.com or phone 604-885-6331.

Ordering by Email

  • Please put in the subject line: Order for (your name) and either FOR PICKUP or FOR DELIVERY.
  • If requesting delivery, you must provide your name, phone number and delivery address.
  • List all items and be specific. (For example, don’t just say “a can of beans” but “Organic Pinto Beans” and the size of the can.)

Ordering by Phone

  • If ordering by phone, you can call as early as 6 am to place orders.

Picking up your Order

Volunteers put the orders together from 10 am to approximately 1 or 2 pm so pickup or delivery is in the late afternoon. Once the order is put together, you will be called for your credit card information.

If picking up, call the store when you arrive in the parking lot and give them information about what you are driving.  You can open your trunk and they will come out and put the groceries in the trunk for you.

Clayton’s Heritage Market (Sechelt)

From their website on April 10, 2020:

“If people are isolating but able to drive, we can shop orders for them (for an additional fee), and they can drive down to the store where orders can be placed in their vehicle. See our section on shopping/delivery. Presently there may be up a 1 – 3 day wait for grocery pick-ups.

If you are unable to shop in the store nor arrange pickup for your groceries, we can both shop orders for you and deliver them to you—additional fees for shopping and delivery apply. See our section on shopping/delivery. Presently there may be a 1 – 3 day wait for deliveries.

Heather’s Your Independent Grocer (Sechelt)
